A Letter From Greg
My name is Greg Smith and I want to serve as your next City Council representative for District 4.
Many of you know me from my work on issues as diverse as windstorm insurance, desalination, water, electrical transmission and coastal erosion and protection. I’ve served on numerous community boards and committees, and my interests and activities have given me an up-close look at many areas of the city which have been very successful –and at others where we need improvement.
I want to use my knowledge as a community advocate and a small business owner to represent the thoughts, concerns and priorities of District 4 on the Corpus Christi City Council.
While our city is making progress, we also need people who can ask the hard questions, put a new perspective on important issues and crank up the city’s efforts to retain and attract jobs and people who want to be a positive force in our community.
Corpus Christi is a city with a vibrant economy and diverse businesses. We have some of the best workforce training and educational opportunities in Texas. Our tourism assets and quality of life are unrivaled by any other city of our size.
But there is still much to be done. We have to renew our focus on improving our basic services. We must have solutions in place to immediately solve issues that affect our ability to provide those services. And, we must concentrate on fixing our water issues and improving our streets so that our quality of life is unmatched anywhere in Texas.
In addition, we must be a forward thinking city to provide for a good future for those who come after us. That means taking steps now to meet not only our current needs but our future needs as well.
I am a fifth generation Corpus Christi resident. I went to school here, raised my family here and began my business in Nueces County. Like you, I love this city and I believe that working together we can find the solutions to keep our city the best place in Texas.
